Mental Health Service for Older Adults (MHSOA) Waitematā District provides specialist mental health services across the district through a range of community and hospital-based services to a population of 100,000+ over the age of 65.

About the role

An exciting opportunity for you to join our team in a clinical leadership role across the service has arisen.

As the Clinical Director, you will partner with the Mental Health Service for Older Adults (MHSOA) Operations Manager. You will be involved in developing, implementing, and maintaining clinical best practices, service development, and excellence in professional conduct. You will work with a wider group of Senior Medical Staff and psychiatry trainees and lead the clinical governance structure for the Mental Health Service for Older Adults.

The service sits under the Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Services (SMHAS) division and has solid clinical and operational ties with the Specialty Medicine and Health of Older People division.

You will:

  • be an experienced psychiatrist, committed to leading the provision of high-quality care

  • have strong consumer and family/whānau focus
  • enjoy the challenges of providing services to a diverse community.

Teaching and supervising junior doctors and students and clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team are core functions of all our psychiatrists.
