About the role
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waitematā Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Service is the largest provider of mental health and addiction services in New Zealand.
It comprises an integrated range of:
- Adult Community and Inpatient Services
- a comprehensive Infant, Child, Adolescent, Youth and Family Mental Health Community Service
- dedicated Māori (Whitiki Maurea) and Pacific Island (Takanga A Fohe) Community Mental Health Services
- a range of specialist services such as Early Psychosis Intervention, Consultation Liaison/ED and Maternal Mental Health.
Waitematā is also responsible for the Regional Forensic Psychiatry Services and the Regional Community Alcohol and Drugs Service (CADS).
With this wide range of services and with more than 95 FTE senior medical staff across the service, there is a strong support system available for doctors at any stage of their career, and multiple opportunities to benefit from, or to provide, expert collegial advice and support.
About you
Based in our North Adult Community Mental Health team, we are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist or experienced Medical Officer who is committed to providing a high standard of care, has a strong consumer focus, enjoys the challenge of providing services to a diverse community and wishes to be a part of a fantastic team of mental health and addiction clinicians and psychiatrists.
Teaching and supervision of junior doctors and medical students and clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team are core functions of all our senior medical officers.
