North/Rodney and West, Adult Mental Health Services

Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Services

Waitemata District Health Board (WDHB) Mental Health Services is the largest provider of Mental Health Services in the Northern Region of New Zealand. We have the responsibility for providing adult mental health services to our catchment population of over 650,000 through a range of community and hospital-based services.

In recognition of the span of services and the increasingly important relationships across an expanded range of services and settings, we have boosted our clinical leadership roles and developed Clinical Director positions for each of our main localities, West Auckland and North Shore/Rodney.

Working in these unique roles of 0.6 FTE Clinical Director you can also work up to 0.4 FTE as a Consultant Psychiatrist within one of our Community Teams, general hospital Consultation-Liaison Team, Primary Care Liaison, or in acute inpatient psychiatry, depending on where your experience and passion lies.

As the Clinical Director you will work in partnership with the Adult Operations Manager and Clinical Nurse Director and will be involved in the development, implementation and maintenance of clinical best practice, service development and excellence in professional conduct.  You will be working with a wider group of Senior Medical Staff and with psychiatry trainees, will lead the clinical governance structure for the Adult Service.

You will be an experienced Psychiatrist, committed to providing a high standard of care, who enjoys working in partnership with other disciplines, and will have a strong consumer and family/whānau focus and enjoy the challenges of providing services to a diverse community.

Teaching and supervision of junior doctors and students and clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team are core functions of all our Psychiatrists.
