The consultant psychiatrist, as well as providing high quality diagnosis, treatment and follow-up (or referral) of clients, participates in clinical development of the service.

Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team

The Child/Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is part of Mental Health, Addictions and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) 3DHB, which serves the greater Wellington Region, the Kapiti Coast, and the Wairarapa. We are committed to providing services in locations accessible to our clients; therefore, there are teams based in Wellington, Porirua, Paraparaumu, the Hutt Valley and Masterton. Our CAMHS multidisciplinary teams include psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, psychotherapists, and administration staff.

Current psychiatrist vacancies allow for consideration of full or part-time work within one team, or working across sites.

CAMHS teams provide specialist assessment and treatment for children, young people and their families/whanau who have moderate to severe mental health needs that cannot be managed in a primary care setting. We work within the Choice and Partnership Approach (CAPA) to deliver best evidence-based practice and are focused on attaining the best outcomes for our service users. Management of any given case may include input from one or more different disciplines, and team members work collegially.
