About the role
Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty is investing in the development of renal services to support people living with renal disease across the Bay of Plenty. This includes the establishment of a dedicated renal service multidisciplinary team and the commissioning of additional haemodialysis capacity both in Tauranga and at Whakatāne. Currently there are five physicians working across renal and acute general medicine, and we are now recruiting one more SMO to join the service.
This role will share cover of an acute general medical inpatient team (one in three) and have dedicated non-acute time for subspecialty nephrology service delivery. The role covers both Tauranga and Whakatāne, as well as linking with wider renal services across the Te Manawa Taki (Midland) region.

In addition, we seek an individual who has the skills to foster a learning culture across undergraduate and postgraduate staff, with the support of the BOP Clinical School and the University of Auckland. The school also provides clinical research opportunities.
