About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Home-Based Treatment team. This newly created service is an integral part of the Adult Community Mental Health and Addictions Acute Care Team and wider community mental health services.

Home-Based Treatment (HBT) is based on the premise that, for some people, recovery is better enabled by treating them at home, in the community they live in, surrounded by those closest to them.

The primary functions of the Home-Based Treatment team are to:

provide an alternative to inpatient admission
provide intensive response to mental health crisis to prevent an inpatient admission
support an early facilitated discharge from the psychiatric inpatient unit
provide intensive support in a community setting while mental health crisis resolves
In this role, you will be providing high-quality assessment and treatment services within a multidisciplinary acute care team. The role requires someone who can work from a collaborative model with tangata whaiora and encourage whānau involvement in their care.

The Home-Based Treatment Psychiatrist appointed to this role will have the opportunity to live and work in the beautiful Bay of Plenty and help shape the future of local services. There is support for academic interests and a strong clinical community. If you like to work in a team that puts the client and their whānau at the centre, and is collaborative, creative and collegial, this could be your next role.

This is a permanent 0.6 FTE part-time position, working forty-eight hours per fortnight. There is also an opportunity for the role to be combined with our 0.4 FTE Consultation Liaison Psychiatry vacancy. You can read more about this role here.
