About the Team/Service/Location
The Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) spans two districts – Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley (Greater Wellington) district and Wairarapa district. MHAIDS includes local, regional, and national services. Local MHAIDS services are provided from multiple sites within these districts.
The Central Regional Forensic service provides services to the Wellington, Wairarapa, Manawatū, Whanganui, Hawke’s Bay and Tairāwhiti (Gisborne) districts. The service provides a range of services for adults and youth, including adult inpatient, prison and community services, a national Youth Forensic service, and the newly developed national Fixated Threat Assessment Centre.
Our teams provide mental health care to local and regional men’s and women’s prisons, youth offending units, and justice facilities. We also deliver court liaison services to adult and youth courts. Our community teams provide care for people who require supervision and support due to their status as Special Patients or who have an ongoing need for forensic community support.
