About the role

We seek a qualified clinical geneticist to join our Christchurch based clinical team.

This is a permanent, part-time role (0.77 FTE/30.8 hours per week). You should be able to demonstrate broad training and experience in all aspects of clinical genetics. Experience in genomic medicine and current involvement in genomics MDM/MDT is essential. You will participate in our extensive outreach clinic program, and there are opportunities to engage with our local laboratory providers and the University of Otago, Christchurch School of Medicine on the same site.

About the Team/Service/Location

Genetic Health Service NZ (GHSNZ) is a national multidisciplinary clinical and diagnostic Genetic Service. Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley district currently provides two Hubs for GHSNZ, based in Christchurch (South Island Hub) and Wellington (Central Hub). The two Hubs provide clinical genetics services to 50% of the population of New Zealand, from Taranaki in the North Island, to Invercargill at the southern tip of the South Island. Clinical staff in the two Hubs are part of the national service and work closely with colleagues in the Northern Hub based in Auckland.

Christchurch is New Zealand’s second largest city, and is a vibrant, modern city with attractions for both enthusiasts of city living and those that enjoy easy access to the numerous outdoor pursuits nearby. Christchurch is located on the East coast of the South Island and provides a high quality lifestyle for both old and young.

About you

You will:

  • be vocationally registered in Internal Medicine (clinical genetics) with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
  • hold FRACP or equivalent and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
  • work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
  • have relevant experience and training.
