About CADS
Come and work at Community Alcohol and Drug Service (CADS), New Zealand’s largest alcohol and drug service. CADS covers the greater Auckland area and provides a range of addiction services to many thousands of people each year, with over 240 staff from a range of professional backgrounds, including medical, psychology, nursing, allied health including consumer and peer support.
CADS operates from six main sites across Auckland (Takapuna, Manukau, Henderson, Kingsland, CBD and Pt Chevalier). We provide a wide range of services, from intake, assessment, and counselling, both individually and in groups. Medically assisted treatments include opioid replacement treatment, inpatient and outpatient managed withdrawal, medical stabilisation, and support of GPs and other health professionals.
We are strength-based, recovery-focused, adopt a harm reduction approach, and value easy access for Aucklander’s and their families. Specialist services exist for those with co-existing disorders, pregnant women and mothers (our Pregnancy and Parental Service), young people (our Altered High Youth Service), people who have had contact with the criminal justice system or require compulsory treatment (SACAT Act 2017), or have need for application of the Misuse of Drugs Act (e.g. restriction notices, authorisations, etc). We operate in close partnership with a wide range of stakeholders, including providers for Māori and Pacific peoples, other addiction and mental health service providers, NGOs, and primary care.
