Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
This position would suit trained plastic surgeons who can help our unit with general plastic surgery. The plastic surgery service has exciting new regional development work occurring. New models of care are being developed and a brand new purpose built 5 room procedure suite is opening in 2023.
This role will also have a commitment to a general plastic trauma list and will contribute to ‘see and treat’ skin lesion clinics. There will be a general plastic surgery on call commitment equating to 1:10 currently.
Elective plastic surgery clinics and operating lists will be integrated with the rest of the Department and there may be scope to accommodate areas of subspecialty interests.

The plastic surgery service provides regional services to Wellington, Wairarapa, Palmerston North, Hawke’s Bay, Nelson/Marlborough and Whanganui hospitals. In addition, the Unit provides supra-regional services in vascular anomalies and laser.
We have an internationally renowned plastic and burns unit, regional rheumatology and public health services, and all our specialties have a strong focus on excellence and innovation.
Moū – About you
- Vocationally registered in plastics & reconstructive surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- FRACS or equivalent qualification and be able to register for with the MCNZ
- Minimum of 1 year post graduate experience
- Work effectively in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
- Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
