Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

We have a great opportunity for 2 Urgent Care Fellows to join our busy and thriving Accident and Medical Clinic based in Porirua at Kenepuru Hospital.

This is a permanent, salaried position which includes salary step progression as per the MECA, Kiwisaver, CME and other leave benefits. The clinic operates 24/7 to provide extended primary care and Urgent Care services to the Porirua community.  The Doctor roster is made up of Urgent Care SMOs employed by Kenepuru Accident and Medical Clinic; and contracting doctors who are clinically appropriate to work in an urgent care clinic. In addition we have an arrangement with local GPs from Porirua who form the third component of the Doctor workforce in the roster.  There is no requirement to work nights.

The team is supported by a nursing team lead by a Charge Nurse Manager for the department including 2 Nurse Practioners and a Practice Administrator coordinates the teams.

  • Vocationally registered in Urgent Care with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
  • FNZCUC or equivalent qualification and be able to register for with the MCNZ
  • Senior urgent care registrars nearing fellowship completion will also be considered
  • An enthusiastic team-based approach
  • Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
  • Relevant experience and training
