We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Consultant Urologist to join our dedicated team at Nelson Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-performing service that delivers safe, effective, and patient-centred urological care to our community.
Nelson Marlborough Health encompasses a wide area across the top of the South Island with a population of around 145,000. We have two main hospitals: Nelson (150 beds) and Wairau Hospital in Blenheim (88 beds). Both are known for their collegial support within and across specialties. This position will be located at Nelson Hospital with the requirement to work across both sites.
You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team, providing both outpatient and inpatient services, including diagnostics, surgical procedures, and follow-up care.
There is also scope to participate in service development, teaching, and clinical leadership.
Key responsibilities include the following:
- Provide specialist urology services across elective and acute settings
- Collaborate with surgical, oncology, and renal teams
- Participate in on-call roster and multidisciplinary meetings
- Support junior medical staff and contribute to teaching and training
- Engage in continuous quality improvement and innovation
About you:
- Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent
- Proven experience in general urology; subspecialty interest welcomed
