Liaison Psychiatry – North Team
Waitemata District Health Board serves the communities of North and West Auckland and the Rodney District, a population of nearly 600,000. Dedicated to the delivery of public health care, Waitemata is committed to “making a healthy difference” to the patient, their family/Whanau, the community and Iwi, and the healthcare workforce.
The Liaison Psychiatry Team is based at both North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals and will assess, advise on treatment and appropriate follow up service for adults attending the hospitals (e.g. Emergency Department and Assessment and Diagnostic Unit (ADU)) and those in wards who are affected by mental health.
The service operates a clinical governance model and there are opportunities to be involved in service development, service planning and quality improvement initiatives.
Teaching and supervision of junior doctors/students and clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team are core functions for our Consultants.
Currently, there are established specialty clinics involving a Liaison model e.g. Outpatient Renal transplant assessments. There are opportunities to develop further Liaison networks with other medical services.
The post will require a Psychiatrist with a certificate in Advanced Training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry or equivalent specialist accreditation, or a Psychiatrist wanting to undertake the training. The successful applicant will also be expected to be part of the Adult Psychiatry SMO After Hours On-Call Roster.
