Required qualifications: To be eligible for this position you must either be registered (or eligible for registration) with the Medical Council of New Zealand and have a specialist qualification in Orthopaedic Surgery that is recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Orthopaedic Surgery as suitable for Vocational Registration in New Zealand.

Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua | MidCentral are currently looking to expand by recruiting a spinal Orthopaedic Surgeon. So, if working in a collegial environment enjoying the ease of living in a small city within a great region to explore in your down time sounds appealing to you, read on!
We need a surgeon with an interest in Spine, but able and willing to provide services in general orthopaedic and trauma surgery as well. You will partake in the general on-call roster and will contribute to management of trauma and other acute Orthopaedic presentations. Due to the high demand, you will be involved in the provision of primary knee and hip joint replacement services to the Manawatu community as well. If desired, you will also be involved in delivering services in the private sector.
The spine service will be management of trauma, decompression and stabilisation of the spine surgery. If interested in tertiary spine surgery, you will be able to liaise and coordinate the management with tertiary institutes.
You would be one of seven Orthopaedic Specialists. There is also a Medical Officer, 9 Registrars (two are on the national training program) and House Officers.
Applicants must hold FRACS Orthopaedics or equivalent and be eligible for vocational registration in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
