Job Hours: 40
Required qualifications: To be considered for this role, you will need to possess FRACS in Vascular Surgery or an equivalent qualification. Permanent position, full or part-time
We are seeking applications from registered Medical Practitioners who have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent to enable specialist (vocational) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
Working in Dunedin Hospital, a 350-bed teaching and training institution, and our wider Surgical Directorate, you will bring your specialist skills in vascular surgery to our team and community alike.
This role involves elective and emergency vascular surgery practice. Our clinics take place across the catchment area and may involve scenic flights to outreach facilities.
We have strong links with the Dunedin School of Medicine with ample opportunities for teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students. There is a strong academic focus in our vascular department within the University of Otago with current research projects in innovative wound care, vascular ultrasound, vascular disease, and surgical education. For an applicant with a strong academic portfolio, there would be the opportunity for a joint clinical position up to Professorial level, sharing your time between the clinical and academic worlds.
Dunedin offers the benefits of working in a tertiary referral centre with close links to New Zealand’s oldest university. As a team of currently three vascular surgeons, we work closely together with our interventional radiologists and offer a broad spectrum of open and endovascular procedures to our patients. The hospital is a RACS integrated training site and all sub-specialties are represented in the Southern District Health Board.
We will be screening applications before the closing date to ensure we can start interviewing once the role closes on Friday, 24 June 2022 but this may be closed earlier.
If this role has sparked your interest but does not match your current clinical skills or situation, get in touch as there could be a place for you!
