About the role

As a Clinical Geneticist, you will play a key role in the diagnosis and management of genetic conditions for patients and whānau across Aotearoa. You will provide specialist genetic services, supporting patients through assessment, diagnosis, and genetic counselling. Additionally, you will collaborate with genetic counsellors, referrers, and laboratory experts to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care.

About the Team/Service/Location

Our Genetic Health Service NZ (GHSNZ) team provides a national, multidisciplinary service delivering clinical genetics care across New Zealand. Based at Te Toka Tumai Auckland City Hospital, we work closely with regional teams and outreach clinics, ensuring equitable access to genetic services for all communities.

About you

As a Clinical Geneticist, you will bring the following:

  • Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Clinical Genetics
  • Experience in genomic medicine and multidisciplinary genomic meetings (MDM/MDT)
  • A strong commitment to equity, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and culturally responsive care
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and patient-centred counselling skills
  • A passion for education, mentoring, and research in genetic medicine
