About the role
As a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, you will provide high‑quality clinical services and oversee the care and management of both acute and non‑acute patients within a multidisciplinary team environment. The role includes participation in the on‑call roster.
You will support and provide leadership to junior medical staff and work collaboratively with the wider team to deliver comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow‑up care for women referred to the service.
About the Team/Service/Location
The Women’s Health service provides quality and safe care as experienced by women, babies and their whānau of the Wellington Region. We have a dedicated successful and enthusiastic team of 20 full and part-time Obstetricians and Gynaecologists who enable a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach to service provision, including voice of consumers at all level of service planning.
Wellington Hospital is also a teaching hospital with medical students from the University of Otago rotating through the Women’s Health Service. We supervise, and are accredited for Obstetrics and Gynaecology training through the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

About you
You will:
- be vocationally registered in Obstetric and Gynaecology with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- hold FRANZCOG or equivalent to be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
- participate on the on-call roster
- have a strong focus on maternal fetal medicine
- work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
- be able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
- have relevant experience and training.
