Job description

An opportunity exists for a Spine and General Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our highly regarded team of 13 permanent Orthopaedic Specialists.

You will pride yourself on providing a high standard of clinical practice and expertise to the patients under your care. The successful candidate will be a team player and clear communicator, willing to assist with the supervision and instruction of junior medical staff within the Orthopaedic service.

This role is fixed term – 12-18 months, 1.0 FTE position with no on-call requirement. The Orthopaedic service provides for the management of major injuries and fractures at Wellington Regional Hospital and treatment of injuries, congenital, infective, degenerative and malignant disorders of the musculoskeletal system at Wellington and Kenepuru Hospitals.

We provide a regional tertiary service for patients with complex major trauma, revision joint replacement, spinal disorders, scoliosis, paediatric and hand surgery. To be considered for this position you must hold FRACS in Orthopaedics, or equivalent, and hold, or be eligible to hold, Vocational (specialist) Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Generous leave entitlements and CME allowance are available. CCDHB can also assist with Medical Council registration and immigration requirements and can provide relocation assistance for the right candidate.

Wellington is crammed with more bars, cafes and restaurants per capita than New York, and a slew of gourmet producers including many independent coffee roasteries. Year-round you’ll find arts and cultural events in abundance. It’s also a great place to raise a family!
