Job description

Are you Radiologist with a range of skills and a good grasp of general radiology? Then MidCentral District Health Board (MDHB) might be just the place for you.

As a full time radiologist at MDHB you would work across modalities including CT, Ultrasound, general imaging and the option of MRI sessions.

The department has an interesting and varied workload carrying out approximately 96,000 examinations a year in the provincial city of Palmerston North, servicing a total regional population of around 166,000. Regional services to a larger population also include: Oncology, Breast Screening, Renal and Urology, with clinics held at the hospital including Respiratory, Rheumatology, Paediatrics and visiting specialists from Wellington for Neurosurgery and Cardiothoracic surgery.

Palmerston North Hospital has up to date equipment including CT, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, DSA, and seven general digital radiography rooms and Nuclear Medicine with two gamma cameras. RIS/PACS was installed in 2009. A private provider, Broadway Radiology, has an MRI in the hospital grounds and there are opportunities for candidates to be employed by both private and public services, with an attractive remuneration package available. There is also the opportunity to work in Breast Screening.

The Medical Imaging Department has ten Radiologists, and three Radiology Registrars. Medical Imaging encourages and supports close clinical interaction with our colleagues both within the hospital setting and the community.

Further information is available from Christine Wood, Medical Recruitment Consultant, Human Resources Department, MidCentral District Health Board.
