Job description

Intensive Care Specialist – Fixed Term 1 year

ABOUT THE COMPANY
Capital and Coast DHB (CCDHB) is located centrally in Wellington and has the equivalent of around 4,300 full time staff, making us a major employer in the Wellington region. We are also the leading provider of a number of specialist services, including neurosurgery, oncology, neonatal intensive care, and specialised mental health services, for the upper South and lower North Islands, a population of about 900,000 people. Our DHB has an annual budget of more than $1 billion, which we use to deliver health services directly and contract external providers to provide care, such as general practices, rest homes and pharmacists.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Wellington Regional Hospital Intensive Care Unit is seeking an Intensive Care Specialist to provide cover for one years leave for one of the specialists.

The position is funded for 4 days a week (36 hours) plus on call work (9 hours) with a total job size of 45 hours.

The position is for a fixed term commencing on 1st May 2018 and will finish 1st May 2019.

DUTIES
Provide adult and paediatric intensive care
Supervise the interhospital air ambulance service when on duty.
Teach registrars and other health professionals

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must have:
An intensive care qualification with the College of Intensive Care Medicine
Vocational registration in intensive care with the New Zealand Medical Council.

Wellington Regional Hospital has an 18 bed tertiary ICU that is expanding to 24 beds later in 2018. The ICU provides adult and paediatric care for over 1700 patients per year covering a very wide range of medical and surgical specialties.
