Job description

Vascular Surgeon
Dunedin Hospital
Permanent term, full or part time

We are seeking applications from registered Medical Practitioners who have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent to enable specialist (vocational) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Working in Dunedin Hospital, a 350 bed teaching and training institution and our wider Surgical Directorate, you will bring your specialist skills in vascular surgery to our team and community alike. We have strong links with the Dunedin School of Medicine, the University of Otago, a Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Surgeons Integrated Training Program site. There is a strong academic vascular department at the Otago Medical School with opportunities for a joint clinical position, as such we would be very interested in an applicant with an academic interest up to Professorial level. The Otago Medical School offers undergraduate training and all sub-specialties are represented in the Southern District Health Board. Equally, we also welcome applications from Surgeons nearing the end of their training.

We can accommodate a part time specialist in this role if you are keen to enjoy the benefits of a good lifestyle and a little less working. One thing is for sure, whether it is in a part or full time capacity that you join us, you will certainly gain the advantages of working in a supportive team environment.

Dunedin offers the benefits of working in a tertiary referral centre with 2 other vascular colleagues in a unique and attractive lifestyle location. The position includes provision of continuing medical education opportunities.

To be considered for this role you will need to possess FRACP or an equivalent qualification, ideally you will already hold a current registration with the New Zealand Medical Council. Trainees within a few months of completing FRACP training are welcome to express an interest.

Close date: Sunday 17 June 2018
