A great opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and committed specialist Microbiologist to work with our friendly team in the laboratory. The successful applicant will work in conjunction with one other full time Microbiologist and in collaboration with a team of infectious disease consultants, pharmacist, nurse, IPC team and laboratories in neighbouring regions to provide support and advice to key clinical services. The lab provides a wide range of on-site testing, including routine bacteriology, virology, infectious diseases serology, TB culture and molecular diagnostics.

Waikato Hospital is located in Hamilton and is a 600-bed tertiary referral centre for the local population and for the wider Midlands region of New Zealand.

The Waikato DHB Laboratory operates over five sites, performing a wide range of routine and specialist testing for the Midland area, and processing over 8 million tests per year.

Applicants will be a microbiologist or senior registrar holding or eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (FRCPA, or equivalent) in Pathology.
