Job description

Forensic Psychiatrist
Wakari Hospital, Dunedin,
Fixed term, part time

• Career development opportunities

Our Forensic Unit is accepting applications for a fixed term Consultant Psychiatrist to join us in a 0.7FTE capacity, from the beginning of July until 31 December 2017.

Our Forensic team is one of only two regional services in the South Island and includes a secure 13 bed inpatient ward, community team and prison and court liaison service offering a developing level of specialisation and expertise in your chosen field. The service offers a full range of criminal forensic psychiatric services and there is flexibility to work in your preferred areas of the service.

You will be expected to be on the service-wide on-call roster (supporting the on-call registrar). With our strong links to the Otago Medical School you will be able to enjoy teaching medical students and registrars. Opportunities to be appointed as a Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Psychological Medicine also exist.

To be successful in this role you’ll need to be committed to quality service delivery and development and able to work effectively as a senior clinician within a multidisciplinary team. Fellowship with the RANZCP or the equivalent is essential and ideally you will already have a current registration with the NZ Medical Council.

Dunedin is a great little city with a big town feel and well-known for its Southern Hospitality. If you’re considering a move down South feel free to talk to us about the job, and the recreational potential which Dunedin and its surrounds possess.

Closing Date: Sunday, 27 May 2018
