Job description

Wellington SCL is a division of Healthscope NZ that has provided doctors and patients in New Zealand with pathology services since 1960. We are the largest provider of pathology services in New Zealand and have laboratories throughout the country.

Our mortuary service provides forensic, coronial and hospital post mortem services to the New Zealand Police, Coroners, Wellington Hospital and other organisations. You will be based at Wellington Hospital (tertiary hospital), the workload is approximately 250 autopsies per year, and there is small component of teaching and training of Anatomical Pathology Registrars.

This is a full time forensic pathologist role and you will belong to a team of fifteen Anatomical Pathologists. Working alongside you will be a small team of mortuary technicians, support staff, a Mortuary Team Leader as well as a perinatal pathologist.

To be successful in this role you will need:

To hold a qualification recognised by the New Zealand Medical Council, Post Graduate qualification such as FRCPA or equivalent e.g. DMJ or board-certified in forensic pathology, allowing for vocational registration as a Pathologist, Minimum 3 years experience as a forensic pathologist.
