(x2 1.0 FTE)

We are looking for two enthusiastic Senior Medical Officers to join our vibrant and friendly team at the Bay of Islands Hospital. It is a perfect time to join our team with a redevelopment currently underway that will include facilitites for an Accident & Medical Department, Radiology, After-Hours GP and Medical Ward. The new facilities will be opened in October 2018.

Bay of Islands Hospital is a busy 15 bed rural hospital (that will move to 20 beds with the redevelopment) caring for medical, post-surgical and paediatric patients along with an Accident & Medical Department that (that will increase to 7 beds in October). The SMO is responsible for providing medical care to acutely ill patients in the Accident & Medical department as well as managing the inpatients in the General Ward. The cases managed at Bay of Islands Hospital are complex and interesting, with specialist support provided from Whangarei Hospital. This position would suit a Specialist / Medical Officer with Rural Health experience or GP All-Rounder with some Emergency Medicine experience.
