Job description

Specialist Anaesthetist
Southland Hospital
1 FTE, full time, 12 month fixed term role

Southland Hospital is the base hospital for a large geographical area and a wide variety of work. Our hospital, rebuilt in late 2004, is a state-of-the-art facility that provides healthcare to a population of 105,000 in the lower South Island.

You'll share responsibility for the specialist anaesthetic assessment and care of patients at Southland Hospital. You'll apply your expert knowledge of modern techniques, from pre-operative assessment and operating theatre services to obstetric analgesia, Intensive Care and Emergency Department Resuscitation. You will also be involved in teaching Anaesthetic Registrars in the ANZCA accredited department.

Preference will be given to applicants who are able to start in the New Year and hold a current vocational registration with Medical Council of New Zealand

Candidates who are not currently registered with the New Zealand Medical Council should be aware that from 1 November 2017 it will be the requirement of the NZ Medical Council that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible so as to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion.
