Job description

Internal Medicine Physician
• Dunedin Hospital
• Permanent, part time

Are you looking for a change of pace, to spend more time with the family, more time outdoors, more time relaxing or just less time stuck in traffic?

We have a part time 0.5FTE, permanent role available at Dunedin Hospital that may just fit the bill for you.
The successful candidate will have a broad Internal Medicine background and will participate in a 1 in 8 on call roster. You will be joining a dedicated team of nine senior staff who primarily provide acute inpatient care for patients. Outpatient Clinics held in our satellite hospitals in the Otago region may also be part of the successful applicant’s duties.

Dunedin Hospital is a 350 bed tertiary hospital with close links to the University of Otago, one of New Zealand’s leading research Institutes. The Internal Medicine Physicians contribute to the professional development and supervision of the supporting team of Registrars, House Officers and students at Dunedin Hospital. Teaching sessions are a regular feature of our department and include formal lectures, weekly journal club, medical forums, grand rounds and audit meetings. The Physicians pride themselves on providing excellent Registrar exam preparation courses and enjoy a nearly 100% success rate.

We will consider applicants whose preference is part time work or who would like a joint academic appointment with the university. Applications from physicians both within New Zealand or overseas are welcome. Please specify this in your cover letter. Fellowship with the RACP or an overseas equivalent is essential, as is eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Candidates who are not currently registered with the New Zealand Medical Council should be aware that it is the requirement of the NZ Medical Council that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible so as to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion. For more information please visit MCNZ website re EPIC Credentialing
