Job description

Are you a Urologist looking for a 6 - 12 month temporary position? If so then you might like to join the team at MidCentral District Health Board based in the beautiful Manawatu. Work in a collegial environment and enjoy exploring the region on your down time!

We are looking for a fulltime Specialist Urologist to join the Urology team based at Palmerston North Hospital and providing Urology Services to the MidCentral and Whanganui District Health Board regions. The service currently has four urologists and two registrar positions, one of which is a training post.

The Urology service is housed in modern facilities and provides a range of surgery using some of the latest technology, such as digital flexible ureterorenoscopy and holmium/yag laser for stone treatment and prostate surgery. It also provides extensive urological investigations on an outpatient basis including urodynamics, scoping and ultrasound guided prostate biopsies. There is an extensive Uro-Oncological activity in conjunction with the Regional Cancer Treatment Service.

This is an exciting time to join MidCentral District Health Board (MDHB) as it is embarking upon a transformational change programme to firmly establish itself as a high performing health system that meets the current and future demands of its communities, that provides improved patient experiences for service users, and that achieves improved patient and community health and wellbeing.

MDHB will build on its significant achievements to date, in particular its investment in developing primary and community care services and relationships. It will work to further reduce service duplication and fragmentation, to move care into and closer to people’s homes, and to achieve an integrated and community focused high performing health system.
