Job description

Is it time for you to take a break, try something a bit different, try another part of the world, have the opportunity to work…. but also have some time to relax and take in some new scenery?

Southland Hospital is one of the newest hospitals in the South Island of New Zealand, providing modern and easily accessible facilities for staff and patients. Southland Hospital is the base hospital for a wide geographical area, creating enormous scope for variety of work.

The Southern DHB Radiology Service is provided to a population of approximately 310,000 people over the lower South Island. The two main hospitals in the region are located in Invercargill and Dunedin. Both are affiliated with the University of Otago Medical School. Southland Hospital provides training to Registrars from the Royal Australasian College of Radiologists, so we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about teaching and passing on their knowledge to junior members of staff.

We are looking for an experienced General Radiologist to join us on a fixed term basis, for a year.
The successful candidate will have the general scope of radiologist skills including Ultrasound, MRI and CT guided procedures. The nature of the work will be predominantly emergency and inpatient cases. You would be expected to support and participate in radiology service and quality initiatives as part of your role. We offer a full range of imaging modalities based on a digital RIS / PACS system.
You will participate on an out of hours on call roster shared amongst your Radiologist colleagues.

As an outstanding team player, you'll have the energy to make a positive difference with both patients and colleagues. In addition to enjoying a challenging and varied workload, you can look forward to a competitive pay rate and a culture where staff are included, valued and respected for their expertise.

Southland offers a wide range of recreational activities. It is home to two of New Zealand's national parks offering superb hiking and scenery, whilst internationally acclaimed fishing and a wide range of other outdoor pursuits are also available. Five top New Zealand snowboarding/skiing destinations are also within easy driving distance.

Recognised as an ideal place to raise a family, Invercargill is a modern city offering access to outstanding leisure pursuits and a caring, safe community. The city also has superb facilities such as the brand new indoor velodrome and sporting complex, excellent schools and an enterprising, innovative tertiary education provider.
