Job description

Public Health Physician Dunedin
Dunedin

Southern DHB’s public health service is currently recruiting for a full time permanent public health physician. To this role, you will bring your experience and skills in building productive relationships with partners, understanding communities’ need and developing teams and innovative population-based programmes. Your leadership skills will also be used in a service which is changing the way it delivers public health approaches across the Southern district. You will be able to balance a sound approach to responding to health protection issues and communicable disease control with the ability to provide leadership on a broad range of issues that impact on health. You will have an interest in quality improvement and evaluation and the ability to demonstrate the impact and outcomes of work.

You will already have, or be able to achieve vocational registration in public health medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Southern District Health Board is located in the south of the South Island New Zealand and is a funder and provider of health and health care services for a population of 320,000. The public health service has offices in Dunedin, Invercargill and Queenstown and works closely with local Councils and other community based organisations as well as with hospital services and primary care practitioners. We are transitioning to a new work programme which includes surveillance and monitoring, evidence, research and evaluation, healthy public policy, health promoting health systems, emergency preparedness and sustainability.
