Job description

1.0 FTE
TAI00725
Gisborne Hospital is the base hospital for the wide geographical area, Tairawhiti, extending up the East Cape of New Zealand, creating enormous scope and variety in the work available to an enthusiastic and skilled anaesthesia professional. Providing healthcare to a population of 47,000, Hauora Tairawhiti is well supported locally by comprehensive surgical services and has a full range of diagnostic facilities on site including a new MRI scanner and CT scanner. We have strong ties with our tertiary referral centre in Waikato and with Starship Children’s Hospital in Auckland.
We are looking for a colleague and team-player who is keen to enhance our already comprehensive anaesthetic service, and who will take the initiative to help us develop new areas as our population continues to expand. We would particularly value current paediatric anaesthesia expertise as we have a growing number of children and young people accessing our services. You’ll share responsibility for the specialist anaesthetic assessment and care of patients at Gisborne Hospital. You will be required to apply your expert knowledge of modern techniques - from pre-operative assessment and operating theatre services, to obstetric analgesia, Critical Care and Emergency Department resuscitation.
We’re looking for a colleague who has the energy to make a positive difference with both patients and staff alike. In addition to enjoying a challenging case load and an exceptional quality of life, you can look forward to a highly competitive pay rate and a culture where staff are valued and respected for their expertise.
Recognised as an ideal place to raise a family, Gisborne is a relaxed city offering access to outstanding leisure pursuits and a caring, safe community. The city has superb outdoor facilities, golden beaches, a warm climate and a vibrant local economy based on wineries, agriculture and tourism.
Enjoy a healthy ‘work life balance’ within a supportive team.
Applicants must either be vocationally registered or be eligible for vocational or temporary registration as provided by the Medical Council of New Zealand.
Preference will be given to applicants who are able to start in the New Year and hold a current vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
Candidates who are not currently registered with the MCNZ should be aware it is the requirement of the MCNZ that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible, so as to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion.
