Location: Wellington

Contract: Fixed term (12 months)


The orthopaedic service provides for the management of major injuries and fractures at Wellington Hospital and treatment of injuries, congenital, infective, degenerative and malignant disorders of the musculoskeletal system at Wellington and Kenepuru Hospitals.

A regional tertiary service is provided for patients with complex major trauma, revision joint replacement, spinal disorders, scoliosis, paediatric and hand surgery.

This role will support the service by completing hip and knee arthroplasty surgery to patients at both Wellington and Kenepuru hospitals. This position would suit a general orthopaedic surgeon.


- Provision of acute and elective clinical care and supervision to patients
- Supervision of patients requiring orthopaedic and fracture treatments in inpatient and outpatient setting
- Actively participate in relevant orthopaedic service and clinical meetings, quality improvement activities, clinical audit and continuing medical education
- Assist with the supervision and training of Resident Medical officers
- Contribute to service and organisational initiatives


- Vocationally registered in orthopaedic surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- Fellowship of the RACS (FRACS) in orthopaedic surgery or equivalent and be able to register for specialist registration with the MCNZ
- Experience in hip and knee arthroplasty surgery
- Have a current driver's license
