Job description

Nau mai, haere mai ki Ūpoko ki te uru hauora.

Location: Wellington

Contract: Fixed term (3 months), full time/part time hours negotiable

We are looking for a consultant colleague to cover a three month sabbatical (between August and November 2019) specifically with a subspecialty interest in nuclear medicine.

Our nuclear medicine department currently has two Phillips gamma cameras (one SPECT/CT and one SPECT-only system). We are a busy department performing approximately 2200 studies a year. Our workload is predominately oncology, orthopaedic and paediatric focused, and we perform an extensive range of other diagnostic nuclear medicine examinations. We also manage I131 therapy doses for our endocrine department.

We are fully staffed with four experienced nuclear medicine technologists. Nuclear medicine does not provide an out of hours on-call service. It is a supportive and collaborative environment, ideal for any nuclear medicine radiologist or consultant nuclear medicine physician looking for a mini-break away from their current role.

Wellington Regional Hospital is one of New Zealand’s five tertiary medical centres and our radiology department is a recognised training institution for Registrars (we have 11), MITs and Sonographers. An emphasis is placed on teaching, including on-going personal and professional development. The department boasts a dynamic and diverse team of 20 radiologists who work closely together in a strong collegial environment.

- Reporting and supervising nuclear medicine scanning lists
- Preparing and taking clinical meetings, and liaising with clinicians where required on cases needing specific nuclear medicine related guidance
- Provide support and clinical leadership to nuclear medicine technologists
- For a nuclear medicine radiologist only: additional sessions reporting and providing support for the “General” Radiologist roster which may include sessions in CT, MRI and US.

-Vocationally registered in radiology with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
-Fellowship of the RANZCR or equivalent and be able to register for specialist registration with the MCNZ
-Relevant experience
