Job description

Waitemata DHB
Auckland, New Zealand

What makes us different other than offering New Zealand's biggest health service by population?

What marks us apart is our single-minded focus on excellence and health equity in our patient outcomes and experience. Our outstanding results speak for themselves and we improve every year.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) has a significant input and influence in supporting better, best and brilliant patient outcomes. The role is accountable for a number of key portfolios including leadership of clinical quality and risk, and medical staff credentialing, training and professional development. The CMO contributes to health service planning across the sector and participates in or chairs a number of national, regional and DHB wide forums.

As a dynamic clinical service leader and influencer you already champion great teamwork and systems to support better patient care and you are ready to take the next step. The role appeals to you because you are already making a difference and because you are the person others turn to;

- Others are inspired to join you on the journey to enhance patient outcomes, experience and services in a way you would be proud for you loved ones to use
- You understand the importance of being a compassionate leader and engaging people and teams across services
- You impact and make improvements across systems
- You demonstrate the importance that partnership and good judgement plays in contributing to strategic governance, planning and financial sustainability of a DHB

As a vocationally registered Senior Medical Practitioner you would be supported to continue with some clinical input if you wished.

Be part of our team – we are achieving the Best Care for Everyone.
