Job description

Timaru, New Zealand

“Best of both worlds”

There is a lot of talk about work/life balance but our Specialist Medical Staff in particular will tell you that, here in Timaru, you truly can have the best of both worlds.

You’ll find significant professional challenge in the breadth of the ‘generalist’ nature of our O&G Specialist role, covering both gynaecology and secondary obstetric care, although the position will still allow plenty of time to enjoy life outside of work too, as the workload is far from onerous.

A pending retirement by an existing team member presents a genuinely rare chance for an O&G Specialist to help make up our team of four. It’s what you might describe as a very passionate team, proud of their profession and well recognised for the service they provide locally.

You’ll be working in a modern, well-resourced facility, where the on-call commitment is generally 1:3 during the week and 1:4 weekends.

Timaru is an easy place to live, family friendly and with easy access to an astounding array of outdoor activities – beaches, ski fields, lakes and mountains. When it comes to public amenities you are spoiled for choice, with some first-rate cafes/restaurants, arts, tennis, aquatic and sporting venues all within the town boundary. Nothing is far away, traffic jams are basically unheard of, property is still relatively affordable and educational facilities and options superb.

For more information about Timaru take a look at the following website https://www.aorakitourism.co.nz/ and if you’re still feeling unsure, here’s a great video clip to help make your decision easier https://www.aorakidevelopment.co.nz/live-and-work/our-story-video

Sound like your sort of team and work/lifestyle environment?

We think Timaru Hospital allows our Clinicians a real chance to enjoy the best of both worlds, so make sure you don’t miss out on this rare chance, apply now for this vacancy online at https://scdhb.careercentre.net.nz/job/oandg-specialist/timaru-hospital/10927

We look forward to receiving your application directly via our Careers Site. If you have any questions regarding this role, please contact our Human Resource Adviser by phoning +64 3 687 2388.

Closing date: OPEN

Please be aware, if you are an overseas candidate that the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) have introduced a new method of primary source verification using the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates’ Electronic Portfolio of International Credentials (ECFMG’s EPIC) service. Being certified through EPIC is now compulsory, and we therefore recommend that applicants have registered their professional credentials with EPIC - https://epic.ecfmgepic.org/Registration.aspx

Please visit the MCNZ website for more details about these changes and the other requirements needed to be met toward gaining NZ Registration, https://www.mcnz.org.nz/get-registered/
