About the role

We are a busy, contemporary, ophthalmology service providing a wide range of general ophthalmology care with a dedicated team of Ophthalmologists (with general and specialist training) specialty Nurses, Orthoptists, Optometrists and Technicians. Our suites include OCT, fields, photography and lasers and our operating theatres have modern microscopes and Alcon Centurion Phakoemulsification equipment.

We are looking for two Specialist Ophthalmologists to join our team of four Ophthalmologists. The positions will be based at Wairau Hospital in Blenheim. The expectation is that you will take part in a 1:6 on call roster. You will be part of our district-wide service supported by the ophthalmology clinical team at Nelson Hospital.

We have two permanent part-time positions available as follows

Position 1:
•Working 64 hours/fortnight (0.8FTE)

Position 2:
•Working 48 hours/fortnight (0.6FTE)

About you

You will be either registered or be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, and have undertaken postgraduate training in Ophthalmology, obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Ophthalmologist (or equivalent).

You will have excellent communication skills, a commit to client oriented care and quality standards, and will enjoy working in a collaborative and cohesive team.

What we offer

The salary for these positions will be the range of $161,304 - $240,000 NZD (pro rata per annum), as per the current senior medical and dental officer collective agreement, dependent on skills, experience and gaining full vocational registration in NZ.

You will also have access to ten days and a $16,000 allowance NZD (pro-rata) to put towards your continued medical education (CME).

The Marlborough region is known for its relaxed lifestyle and year round dry and sunny days and is the centre of a large wine growing area, adjacent to the Marlborough Sounds and near the Nelson Lakes National Park. The picturesque whale watching town of Kaikoura and Nelson city are only 90 minutes' drive away.
