About the role

Nelson Marlborough Health (NMH) is seeking a General Physician
to join the Department of Medicine; on a fixed-term basis for 14 months, up to full-time (0.8-1.0 FTE). This is a district-wide position, based at Nelson Hospital from June 2019, however there may be the requirement to provide services at Wairau Hospital on occasion.

The preferred sub-specialty interest areas are endocrinology/diabetes, however all areas will be considered. The successful applicant will stand out in terms of their ability, personality and skills to complement and extend our existing medical team providing acute general inpatient medicine; on a rostered 1:9 basis, as well as outpatient services - largely in the area of their subspecialty.

Qualifications required upon taking up the position:
•FRACP or equivalent
•Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
•Hold a current annual practising certificate

What we offer

We offer 10 days leave and $16,000 towards your continued medical education (CME) (pro-rata).

Base salary for this position will be from $161,304 - $240,000 NZD (as per the current senior medical and dental officer collective agreement) dependent on skills, experience and having full vocational registration in NZ.

Situated at the top of the South Island of New Zealand, Nelson city has three national parks within a 90 minute drive and is surrounded by beaches, mountains, hidden valleys, raging rivers and golden sand beaches. It is known as having a spectacular natural environment and has one of the highest number of sunshine hours in New Zealand.
