Job description

Specialist Medical Oncologist

• Dunedin Hospital
• Permanent, part time

Applications are invited for a permanent part time (0.5FTE) Specialist Medical Oncologist position at Dunedin Hospital.

Joining our Oncology and Haematology team of 5 Medical Oncologists, 4 Radiation Oncologists and 6 Haematologists whilst working in a tertiary referral centre and living in a unique and attractive lifestyle location.

Dunedin Hospital is a 350-bed teaching and training institution with strong links to the School of Medicine at Otago University. We offer a full complement of sub-specialities and are a training site for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. As such we encourage and support staff research and their continuing medical education. Our Service has a solid research program and we would welcome applications from Physicians with a sub-speciality interest or those with an interest in teaching.

Our Service provides regional care and covers the lower south island so you would be required to participate in outreach clinics. A requirement of the position is that you will have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or an equivalent qualification, enabling specialist (vocational) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Dunedin is a great little city with a big town feel and well-known for its Southern Hospitality. If you’re considering a move down South feel free to come and talk to us about the job, the good schools, the University of Otago, and the recreational potential which Dunedin and its surrounds possess.

Candidates who are not currently registered with the New Zealand Medical Council should be aware that from 1 November 2017 it will be the requirement of the NZ Medical Council that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible so as to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion. For more information please visit MCNZ website re EPIC Credentialing

Closing Date: Wednesday, 11 July 2019

Candidates please note that screening of applications will be ongoing throughout this advertising period and our advertising will be removed from the Southern DHB website in the event of the role being filled.
