Job Number: WAI10361

Seeking a balance in inpatient and outpatient work? Want to work in a big friendly hospital without the traffic hassles of a big city?

Waikato Hospital’s Respiratory & Sleep Department has a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and dynamic physician who is looking for a new challenge and to join an enthusiastic team.

We have two vacancies:

• Full time position joining 7 other respiratory physicians to provide respiratory care in a busy inpatient ward and consultations to other inpatient services. There are full range of general respiratory and specialty outpatient clinics. You need to have a strong clinical background in sleep medicine/non-invasive ventilation, although not essential if you meet all the other recruitment criteria.
• Part-time (0.5FTE) position running the newly established community COPD admissions prevention program with a dedicated and experienced team of nurses and physiotherapists.

As well as concentrating on patient centred care, we also have a strong research focus. We publish many clinical papers a year and collaborate with national and international groups in conducting clinical research and audit. We have an established respiratory laboratory and a sleep laboratory which has undergone expansion of the service and new directions.

What can we offer you?

• Part of a large dedicated team of physicians, registrars, clinical nurse specialists, research nurses, physiologists and administrative staff in respiratory department.
• New inpatient ward, outpatient clinics, Sleep Clinic/Lab and lung function lab in one of the largest hospitals in New Zealand
• Opportunities to expand and lead a fully functional sleep laboratory.

Waikato District Health Board plans, funds and provides health services across a district over more than 390,000 people. It provides tertiary care for cardiothoracic surgery and is the lead in regional cancer care for a population of over 800,000.
