Job description

Clinical Leader – South Island Bowel Screening Clinical Lead
National Bowel Screening Programme (South Island)

• Fixed term, 0.2 FTE ( 8 Hours per week)

The South Island Bowel Screening Regional Centre is looking for a Clinical Leader to champion the implementation of the National Bowel Screening Programme across the South Island.

This is a pivotal support role for the successful implementation of population bowel screening across all South Island DHB’s. You will need to be available to provide expert clinical guidance and advice for the Programme, engage with the Bowel Screening Clinical Leaders, support implementation of the Programme in each DHB and provide advice and guidance with regard to the DHB’s meeting the necessary quality standards.

The role is hosted by Southern DHB but as the role is for the whole of the South Island we would welcome applications from anyone based in the South Island. You will be working alongside the Bowel Screening Regional Centre team and have relationships with the Ministry of Health, clinical staff, the PHO and all DHB’s. The role will primarily be one of providing advice and support and so it is a requirement that you can make yourself accessible to deliver this and can commit to becoming an expert resource for the Programme. It is also expected that there would be some limited requirement to travel to each of the sites, attend regional clinical meetings, infrequent meetings with the MoH and other ad-hoc meetings as needed.

This role is a 0.2FTE, 8 hours a week, it is a fixed term until June 2021.

We welcome applications from any speciality so long as you have a keen interest in making the Programme a success. If you have any questions please contact Maree Duncan at

Closing Date: Sunday, 6 October 2019
