Your new life in Northland - NZ!

Interested in an exciting opportunity for a General Medical Physician with sub-speciality interest in infectious diseases? Picture yourself in sunny Northland with some of the most spectacular scenery NZ has to offer and an unparalleled work life balance. An excellent relocation package is available to bring you and your family to Whangarei Hospital.

Our region

As well as a warm climate, the "winterless north" has excellent schools, affordable housing and scenic coastal areas offering a vast range of recreational activities. We are just two hour's drive from the international hub of Auckland.

Our services

Whangarei Hospital is the largest hospital in Northland, providing secondary care services with our three rural hospitals. Northland covers an area of 12,600 square kilometres and a population of 180,000.

The service has a coronary care unit with five beds, three medical wards with 68 beds and a spacious outpatient facility. The hospital prides itself on having a supportive collegial atmosphere with great rapport across specialities and services. You would be joining a team of 16 physicians who work across both Acute Medicine and subspecialty ambulatory services.
