Location: Wellington

Contract: Full time, fixed term 6 months (with the possibility of 12 months)


The role based in the Cardiology Service at Wellington Hospital. The service is responsible for providing comprehensive Cardiology services for a wide range of secondary and tertiary services for both inpatients and outpatients located at Wellington and the Central New Zealand region.

As our successful candidate will join a team of ten cardiologists with tertiary services including three cath labs, full interventional portfolio, structural heart disease program, an established regional adult congenital heart disease service, comprehensive cardiac imaging and invasive electrophysiology as well as device service. You will have proven skills and experience in general cardiology as well as a combination of subspecialties. In order to complement the team and meet the requirements of the service priority will be given to candidates with sub specialisation in

(1) Coronary intervention including the interventional, treatment of acute myocardial infarction and its complications .

(2) experience in cardiac imaging (echocardiography; cardiac MRI and/or cardiac CT desirable)

Role expectations include an on call component with associated inpatient responsibilities.


- Vocationally registered in Internal Medicine (Cardiology) with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- FRACP (Cardiology) or equivalent and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
- Excellent interpersonal skills and work well in a team environment
- Relevant training and experience
