Job description

Lakes DHB wishes to increase the services it offers to the community we are seeking to employ additional staff in the following roles. This will take us to a total of 15 physicians each participating in the acute general medical service for 1/3 of the year.

Cardiologist preferably also trained in General Medicine
About the role
Cardiac services are provided within general medicine and it includes delivery of inpatient Cardiology support on CCU, dedicated specialist cardiology clinics and a range of non invasive diagnostic modalities (ambulatory cardiac monitoring, 2D/3D transthoracic ECHO, trans-oesophageal ECHO, contact echocardiology, CT Coronary Angiography)

Geriatrician/General Physician
About the role
Our excellent team is based in a purpose built 16-bedded ward that provides care for older patients and those requiring rehabilitation or who have suffered a stroke. Our team consists of one other geriatrician, a geriatric nurse specialist, a registrar and house officer as well an excellent interdisciplinary team of allied health professionals and nurses. We are committed to providing the best outcomes for our patients.

We also provide outpatient and community assessments in both Rotorua and Taupo. We work closely with our surgical and anaesthetic colleagues and anticipate the development of a perioperative frailty service in the near future. We run a specialist Parkinson’s disease interdisciplinary clinic and also a memory clinic. We have close links with our physician colleagues, older person mental health services, NASC, and our community based colleagues. We are planning for future SMO growth in this service.

You may be expected to participate in the weekend acute medical call roster.
