We proudly provide top quality healthcare to our population. We have a unique opportunity for a part time, 30 hour per week plus call Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist role available.

There are approximately 1400 births per year at Southland Hospital, Invercargill and a further 200 in the surrounding rural areas. Our department is affiliated to the Dunedin School of Medicine University of Otago and has a strong focus on educational development with daily obstetric handover and weekly teaching sessions and we have recently achieved a four year accreditation for O&G training by RANZCOG.

You’ll know Invercargill is the southern-most city in the South Island, but did you know we’re renowned for our friendly and unhurried pace of life, our strong sense of community is just like the good old days in New Zealand. There are abundant sports and other amenities, educational (primary through tertiary) facilities, as well as a vibrant arts and cultural scene. Some people think its cold down here, but the weather is actually better than Wellington, plus if you want to be close to Queenstown and Central Otago we are the closest Hospital currently offering O & G services.

Applicants must have completed, or be about to complete their specialist training and be eligible for vocational registration with Medical Council of New Zealand. Due to the FTE associated with this role, only New Zealand or Australian residents can be considered.
