Southern DHB is taking expressions of interest for a permanent Consultant Radiation Oncologist to join our team on a permanent full time basis.

Radiation Oncology Team at Dunedin Hospital
The Southern Blood & Cancer Service (SBCS) provides a Radiation Oncology Service for the entire Southern region. We are seeking an experienced 6th Radiation Oncologist to join our department consisting of 6 Haematologists and 6 Medical Oncologists. Here you will contribute to the provision of safe, best practice, cost effective clinical services to patients referred to our service from the lower South Island. Within radiation oncology you will work alongside our experienced team of Medical Physicists, Technicians, Radiation Therapists and Nurses.

The radiation oncology service operates three Linear Accelerators including two Elekta HD Versa and a Varian TrueBeam, a Monaco treatment planning system and Mosaiq oncology patient management system and Siemens CT scanner. SBCS delivers body stereotactic treatment for lung and spine in addition to providing the national cranial stereotactic service. Our Service provides regional care and covers the lower South Island so you will have the opportunity to participate in outreach clinics.

Position Requirements
As a Consultant Radiation Oncologist, you will have a personal commitment to maintaining high standards of practice and an unequivocal dedication to working as part of a team. Your ability to provide clinical leadership and reliable medical input to the multidisciplinary team is pivotal to the position. You will have a proven ability to lead development of clinical techniques and innovations. In particular, we are looking for a Radiation Oncologist with specialist skills and interest in treating head & neck cancers.

Our teams have a strong commitment to their patients and their whanau (family), therefore you must have a sound understanding and commitment to biculturalism and the DHB organisational values. You will have a demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and providing training to students at all levels.

An essential requirement of the position is that you will have Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Radiologists or an equivalent qualification, enabling specialist (vocational) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
