Service: Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Contract: Part-time (0.40 FTE) - fixed-term, parental leave cover

About the role
Hutt Valley DHB serves a mainly urban population of around 140,000. Secondary care facilities are located at Hutt Hospital in Lower Hutt with around 270 beds. In addition, Hutt Valley DHB is the centre for five tertiary/regional and sub-regional services - Plastic, Maxillofacial and Burns Services; Rheumatology; School Dental Services; Regional Public Health; and Regional (Breast and Cervical) Screening Services.

Lower Hutt is located close to Wellington, the Kapiti Coast and Wairarapa regions and provides opportunities for most recreational pursuits, sporting and cultural activities.

The Women's and Children's Health service provides quality and safe care as experienced by women, babies and their whānau of the Hutt Valley.We have a dedicated successful and enthusiastic team of 8 full and part-time Obstetricians and Gynaecologists who enable a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach to service provision, including voice of consumers at all level of service planning. We provide and participate in educational and service audit activities and reflect the values of the DHB including that of open disclosure.

As a Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist you will be required to provide excellent services and supervise the care and management of acute and non-acute women allocated to you within a multidisciplinary team environment with an on call component. You will be supporting and leading junior medical staff within the service and will be required to work collaboratively with team members to provide services in assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients referred.

Hutt Hospital is also a teaching hospital with medical students from the University of Otago rotating through the Women's Health department. We supervise, and are accredited for Obstetrics and Gynaecology training through the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

The position is to cover 0.4 FTE covering parental leave from 31 May 2021 up until 30 January 2022. There will also be an on call component.

Applicants must be registered or eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and should have a minimum of two years' experience.
