Job description

Southern Blood and Cancer Service, Dunedin Hospital, New Zealand
12 month fixed-term appointment, 2 roles
Locum interest welcome!
Southern District Health Board has an exciting opportunity for you to embark on a new challenge living in a unique and attractive location in beautiful Aotearoa. We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Medical Oncologists to join our friendly team in Dunedin Hospital on a full-time, fixed term or take up the locum option.

About our team

The Southern Blood & Cancer Service provides a team of Medical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists and Haematologists working in a tertiary referral centre with strong links to the School of Medicine at Otago University. Dunedin Hospital is a 350-bed teaching and training institution that offers a full complement of sub-specialities and a training site for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. As such we encourage and support staff research and their continuing medical education. Our service has a solid research program and we would welcome applications from Physicians with a sub-speciality interest or those with an interest in teaching.

About the role

Our core approach is about providing excellence in patient care and continuous improvement to our service. As a team, we are focused on how we provide care and we collaborate with our community. As our service provides regional care and covers the lower South Island, your role will see you provide clinical expertise and leadership in the management of inpatients and out of town clinics. This role will also involve education, supervision and support to doctors in training and interns and engage in ongoing quality assurance and improvement activities at the discipline, and program and organisational levels.

A requirement of the position is that you will have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or an equivalent qualification, enabling specialist (vocational) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
