Location: Wellington, Porirua

Contract: 12 months fixed term, part time (32 p/w) - 4 days per week

ABOUT THE ROLE

The service is looking for an Oral Surgeon who is able to see and treat patients requiring oral surgery and will also see simple oral medicine patients with support from a visiting oral medicine specialist.

Oral surgery and Oral Medicine are sub-specialities of the Dental and Oral Health Service. The Oral Surgery aspect will include diagnosis, surgical and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries and defects of the human jaws and associated structures. The oral medicine side of the position will include simple facial pain, TMDs and lichen plants type lesion for consults and biopsies treatment related to the oral and maxillofacial region.

DUTIES

To provide treatment to patients requiring oral surgery and simple oral medicine health care within Wellington and Kenepuru Hospitals Out Patient departments.
To provide clinical support and assistance to Dental and Oral Health Service and other clinicians within the DHB
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

DClinDent (Oral Surgery) University of Otago1 (or Australian equivalent), or an appropriate post-graduate qualification to allow registration with the Dental Council of New Zealand as an Oral Surgeon.
Minimal 5 years recent experience post-graduation
Hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate
Experience with diagnosis and management of orofacial pain including Chronic TMD; Experience in biopsy and management of non- complicated mucosal disorders; Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders.
