An opportunity for a real work/life balance has just become available at Southland Hospital! In this role you will be able to join us either on a part-time or full-time capacity, so life wont be all work and no play!

Southland Hospital has 181 beds and is the regional referral and teaching and trauma centre for a population of 105,000 and a rural catchment area that stretches from Stewart Island to Te Anau and Queenstown. The Emergency Department has approximately 36,000 presentations per annum, with a modern open plan design that supports 21 beds (which includes six observations beds).

You will join a stable, supportive and dynamic medical staffing team of other FACEM specialists who themselves have a wide variety of skills and experience. You will work a roster of four ten hour shifts per week (three clinical and one non-clinical), on-call is shared equitably along with your share of day, mid and evening weekday shifts and weekends (pro-rata to your FTE).

The department is accredited for Registrar training with the Australian College of Emergency Medicine so teaching is a part of this role. The Registrars are supported by a Senior House Officer Roster.

There is space in abundance and you are surrounded by national parks and you will find yourself at the doorstep to the Catlins, alongside excellent access to Milford, Te Anau and Queenstown. Excellent schooling is available and free fees at the local Polytechnic!

To be eligible for this position you will need to have completed your Fellowship with the Australian College of Emergency Medicine or be on the pathway to complete this in the near future.
