Contract: Permanent, part time 0.5 FTE (Starting January 2022)

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Child & Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Multi Disciplinary Team in Kāpiti Community Mental Health Team.

The Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) provides specialist mental health services for children and adolescents between the ages of birth and 19 years (inclusive) with indicators of significant mental health problems, and consultation services for lead agencies working with children and youth with primary mental health disorders. We place a strong emphasis on the family being included in the client’s recovery process. The ideal applicant will be able to work alongside other mental health professionals to provide psychiatric expertise within the multidisciplinary approach to client care.

Please note, there may be other part-time roles available that can be combined to make full time employment.

DUTIES

Provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment for children, and young people who have moderate to severe mental health needs and their families
Work in collaboration with the service user, their family/whanau and the community clinical teams to promote recovery
Treatment in a community setting of a broad range of diagnoses and co-morbidities
Work together with other members of the multidisciplinary team
Provide advice and support to colleagues in primary care
Supervise psychiatry registrars and medical students
Contribute to the on call roster for psychiatrists

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Vocationally registered in psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
FRANZCP or equivalent and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
Relevant training and experience
Have a current driver's license

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Capital and Coast DHB (CCDHB) is located centrally in Wellington and has the equivalent of around 4,300 full time staff, making us a major employer in the Wellington region. CCDHB operates two hospitals – Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua – as well as the Kapiti Health Centre at Paraparaumu.

The Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) spans three DHBs - Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast DHB’s and includes local, regional, and national services. The local MHAIDS services are provided from multiple sites within the 3DHB sub-region – greater Wellington, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa. Te Korowai Whariki services include regional forensic and rehabilitation services covering the Central region while the intellectual disability services extend the length and breadth of the country from six bases located in Whangarei, Auckland, Cambridge, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.

Wellington is New Zealand’s capital city, a cultural and cosmopolitan epicentre renowned for its vibrant cafés, restaurants, international sporting and cultural events set in a beautiful natural harbour.
